About
Why MMA training online?
Imagine you could take a big chunk of what a guy like Anderson Silva knows about MMA and transplant that knowledge into your brain. You’d be amazing right? Problem is, without the right training, that will never happen. Some people get to train with the best and get to obtain some of that knowledge first hand but most will never get that chance. We have a unique advantage today though that people have not had for the last 5000+ years and that is reproducible media. Back in the day, if you wanted to learn how to fight, you had to go on a great trek to find the local martial arts master in order to learn. Even then, you were limited to his knowledge and opinions. Now top fighters like Randy Couture author books where they literally tell you the techniques they use to make them so effective. We can watch competitions like the UFC and Strikeforce and see what works without having to just “take it as gospel” that what our coach says works, actually does.
Obviously, reading a book or watching a DVD will not turn you into a UFC champion but at least if you train hard and persevere you can succeed to your maximum potential because you know that the techniques that you’re training actually work and have been proven inside the cage. To top it all off, we have the greatest learning tool ever invented, the internet. These are amazing times and because of the flood of available information, not only will the worlds greatest sport continue to grow but we’ll see champions coming from some pretty unlikely places.
Hi, my name is Jonathan. I’m a 34 year old South African MMA fan and amateur MMA fighter. I currently train primarily in BJJ,and Boxing with large chunks of Wrestling and Muay thai thrown in. I am shocked to see how the sport I love has grown. When I started training in September 2005 just to get fit, I never thought it would be possible for skinny guy like me to get this addicted to combat sports. Back then, if you were in South Africa, people had never even heard of MMA, they used to look at me a bit confused and ask if it was the same as Karate. Now, everyone and their granny is learning how to fight. It’s like Karate and Kung fu back in the 70′s. It’s amazing. Anyhow, over the years I’ve gathered up a collection of MMA related books and videos that is starting to overrun my lounge so I thought I may as well put them to good use by helping people who are looking to buy one get some info first by reading my reviews before deciding what to spend their hard earned Dollars, Pounds, Euros, Roubles and Roupies on.
Being an MMA junkie, I love to fight, its my passion. I love to watch others fight. I love to talk about MMA and I love to learn about the fighters that succeed which is why I write a lot about the different characters in the sport today and back in beginning too. I write reviews and generally comment on MMA today. I also enjoy analysing and breaking down the techniques, stategies and tactics that todays top MMA fighters use. I love seeing how a top fighter uses a technique in the cage while under pressure and then trying it out myself in training so I’ve included a whole techniques section. I hope my site provides some value to you and welcome any feedback that I can use to improve it.
I realise I don’t know everything so if you”re looking for more detailed instruction. You can find it on my MMA training resources page.
